  1. This site contains events that happened in the world and in the U.S., starting in the year 1900, but is concentrated on the Baltimore, Maryland, area and especially Catonsville, Maryland.
  2. Subject matter often reflects the author's interests -- sports winners and scores, the weather, world firsts and Baltimore firsts, things that the author experiences, things of the past that no longer exist, etc.
  3. The site is being filled gradually, so there are still big gaps within years. However, the years 2020 to the present have news (or at least the Baltimore weather) for every day. The year 1900 has news for nearly all days and Baltimore weather for some days. Years 1901 through 1975 inclusive, and 2020 to the present, have Baltimore's daily high temperature, low temperature, and precipitation amount for every day. Sometimes, especially for 2020 to the present, there is additional daily weather information such as cloud cover, wind speeds (on breezy or windy days) and snowfall amounts and amount of snow on the ground, if applicable.
  4. All information regarding Catonsville weather, unless stated otherwise, is based on observations made in northern Catonsville near its border with Gwynn Oak/Woodlawn. Specifically, these weather obaervations were made in the Westview Park neighborhood near the intersection of Craigmont Road and Johnnycake Road. Cloud-cover and wind observations were taken at about 6:00 PM each day and may not be representative of the entire day. Since daily precipitation readings also were taken at about 6:00 PM, any precipitation that falls during the evening of one day is included in the precipitation total for the following day.
