Roger Miller is born in Fort Worth, Texas. He was a singer-songwriter, musician, and actor, widely known for his honky-tonk-influenced novelty songs and his chart-topping country and pop hits "King of the Road," "Dang Me," and "England Swings," along with "Chug-A-Lug," "Engine Engine #9," and others, all from the mid-1960s Nashville Sound era. He died at age 56 on October 25, 1992 in Los Angeles, California.

Betty Rollin is born in New York, NY. She has been an NBC News correspondent and author. Rollin's reports have won both the DuPont and Emmy awards. She now contributes reports for PBS's Religion and Ethics News Weekly. (Rollin was first diagnosed with breast cancer in 1975, and again in 1984, each time losing a breast to the disease. Rollin discussed her cancer publicly and wrote about it in the book, First, You Cry to encourage public awareness and to give encouragement to others facing this disease. First, You Cry was made into a television movie starring Mary Tyler Moore as Rollin.)

John Madden is born John Earl Madden in Austin, Minnesota. He was a football coach and sportscaster.  He was the head coach of the Oakland Raiders of the National Football League (NFL) for ten seasons (1969–1978), and guided them to a championship in Super Bowl XI (1977). After retiring from coaching, he served as a color commentator for NFL telecasts until 2009, work for which he won 16 Sports Emmy Awards. Madden never had a losing season as a coach, and his overall win percentage is second in league history. In recognition of his coaching career, Madden was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2006. As a broadcaster, Madden commentated on all four of the major American television networks: CBS (1979–1993), Fox (1994–2001), ABC (2002–2005), and NBC (2006–2008). He also served as a commercial pitchman for various products and retailers, most notably the Madden NFL video game series, to which he lent his namesake and color commentary.  Earlier while playing college football at Cal Poly, he won all-conference honors at offensive tackle, and also was a catcher on Cal Poly's baseball team. He died unexpectedly at age 85 on December 28, 2021 in Pleasanton, California.

He becomes a guitarist, singer, songwriter, actor and television host, best known for a series of hit songs in the 1960s and 1970s including "Rhinestone Cowboy" and "Southern Nights" and for hosting The Glen Campbell Goodtime Hour on CBS television from 1969 until 1972. He releases 64 albums in a career that spans five decades, selling over 45 million records worldwide, including twelve gold albums, four platinum albums, and one double-platinum album. He died on August 8, 2017, at age 81 in Nashville, Tennessee.

A throng of children from Catonsville and vicinity, 2,000 in all, jam the Alpha Theatre in Catonsville to capacity, when two showings of “California Mail,” a rip-roaring Western starring Dick Foran, are given as a Christmas treat to the children by the Sterling Club of Catonsville. The Christmas party at the Alpha is an annual Sterling Club affair. Santa Claus, assisted by the Catonsville police force, is kept busy for three hours greeting the kids and keeping them in line for admission to the theatre, which is entirely free of charge to all children holding tickets. The tickets had been distributed in the schools in Catonsville and vicinity.
